Artist Liz Deschenes explains her laborious technique for creating large-scale photograms at night. Each resulting work visually captures its "index" — the ambient light, weather, and other atmospheric conditions that play a role in the chemical process of its creation.
Deschenes explains her work for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, in whose collection the artist is represented.
