Der Schein der Dinge / Gentle Madness is a documentary about the artist Jürgen Partenheimer, which was shown for the first time in 2005 and played at renowned film festivals. The director and cinematographer Anne Bürger visited the artist in his studio and accompanied him during the set-up of an exhibition at the Museum am Ostwall in Dortmund in Germany, which dedicated a comprehensive retrospective to him under the title "Der Schein der Dinge".

The film is a journey into the secrets of abstract art - the construction of the imagination, which can open up imaginary thinking spaces for the viewer.
