troika is part of the exhibition poetics of encryption, curated by nadim samman in copenhagen

Kunsthal Charlottenborg presents this year's major group exhibition in close collaboration with the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin.

Troika is part of the exhibition, which ties into the recently published book Poetics of Encryption. Art and the Technocene by curator Nadim Samman. Poetics of Encryption explores the dark side of technology and brings together 38 international artists.

In many areas, we rely on digital tools. However, we rarely understand how they actually work. And since many of these technologies are tied to specific companies, their inner workings are often impossible to fully grasp, even with the greatest curiosity. We are left with no choice but to accept our relative powerlessness in the face of opaque systems. How does this personal and political drama manifest in the cultural realm? What moods, symbols, or narratives are conveyed by the aesthetics and politics of exclusion, isolation, secrecy, and speculation about the inner workings of technology?

The exhibition explores an imaginary landscape shaped by Black Sites, Black Boxes, and Black Holes—secret places, opaque systems, and cosmic voids. These terms suggest how deeply technical systems captivate users, operate in secrecy, and distort space and time in culture. The exhibition, organized into three chapters, addresses these themes and is installed in the grand south wing of Kunsthal Charlottenborg.
