In PARNASS 03/2023, editor-in-chief Silvie Aigner visits the studio of Jürgen Partenheimer in Munich and engages in a conversation that transcends the boundaries of art and architecture:
"Jürgen Partenheimer (*1947 in Munich) is a well-traveled artist. Through exhibition projects and residencies around the world, he has lived and worked in various places, constantly crafting new spatial concepts for museums and ateliers. These concepts have consistently pushed the boundaries of artistic expression and explored the relationship between art and space. Parnass: You lived and taught in America during the 1980s, later resided in Italy, and your exhibitions have been featured from America to Asia. Now, you have constructed a studio in Munich. Is this an ideal scenario for you?
Jürgen Partenheimer: The architectural concept owes its existence to my daughter. She is an architect and meticulously designed the studio with great sensitivity. When an artist has the opportunity to create a studio, it becomes a manifestation of their ideal vision and needs. The collaboration was exceptional, involving the patient development of four or five designs and models. What sets this building apart is its unique characteristic of being 100 percent breathable.
