Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen presents BLINDHÆD, the first institutional solo exhibition by Justin Urbach. The exhibition explores the complex dimensions of seeing, which is increasingly characterised by technology and body optimisation. The title refers to a road sign warning of restricted vision and symbolises both the ambivalence of seeing and the limits of human perception. The exhibition is curated by Marisa Zeising.
Urbach's works, which include neuromorphic camera technologies, wall sculptures, laser-engraved screens and immersive projections, operate at the interface of art and science. They question how our understanding of the visual changes when it is expanded by the influence of algorithms, cameras and sensors. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the possibilities and challenges of a speculative future of seeing, in which transhuman perspectives expand our perceptual spectrum and renegotiate the boundaries of corporeality.
