Artist Jenna Sutela has been selected to represent Finland at the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia in 2026. Her work, which explores the complex interplay between biological and computerized systems, will be presented in the Finnish pavilion. The exhibition is curated by Stefanie Hessler and commissioned by Frame Contemporary Art Finland.
Sutela's practice, characterized by sculptures, installations and sound pieces that incorporate chance and evolving structures, critically examines anthropocentric perspectives and explores connections across different scales. The selection, made after an open call of 128 proposals, underscores the jury's recognition of Sutela's multidisciplinary approach and her interest in combining natural and technological realms. Hessler and Sutela have been working together since 2016 and will continue their successful collaboration for this project.
