NATURE | lou jaworski
For his first solo exhibition NATURE in Berlin, Lou Jaworski opens a space oscillating between material and cultural memory, the subconscious and post-minimalist forms.
At the center of the installation NUMBERS (2024) is the figure of a superhumanly large Pinocchio made from nine 3D-printed sculptural components. Jaworski's version represents a digital appropriation of the literary figure, which appears both uncanny and lifeless, as well as playful. As a personification of the lie, it raises questions about the independence of narratives, but also, through its material aesthetics, about the trustworthiness of new technological developments.
In the exhibition, Jaworski's examination of pictorial traditions and the digital perception of space is illustrated by his UV pigment prints on semi-transparent stainless steel mesh AEON 001-003 (2024). These works question the relationship between image and content, implying a transition to digital landscapes through pixel-like surfaces. Both the cloud motif and the format suggest a landscape that is in the process of dissolution, almost demonstrating a dematerialization of the image-carrying medium.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an exhibition text by curator and art historian Philipp Lange.
