Anne Duk Hee Jordan
Anne Duk Hee Jordan (*1978 in Korea) explores the transience and transformation of materials - from natural substances to synthetic materials - in sculptures, multi-sensory installations and videos, moving at the interface of art, science and philosophy. With humor, poetry and technical precision, Jordan creates mobile, often motorized sculptures that shift between organic life and mechanical autonomy. The works open up sensual spaces of experience in which ecological, philosophical and social issues are negotiated. Edible landscapes and kinetic machines invite us to engage with new perspectives - always with a focus on the complex relationships between ecology, cycles and resources. The change of perspective is a central motif with which Jordan invites us to break away from an anthropocentric point of view and look at the world from a holistic, ecological perspective. Through interactive installations, sensory experiences and unpredictable patterns of movement, Jordan brings small organisms and the unseen to light, bringing them into focus. The works manifest a profound examination of the invisible processes that determine our coexistence, while at the same time opening our eyes to the playful and the unpredictable.
Anne Duk Hee Jordan recently exhibited at ZKM Karlsruhe (2024), KunstHausWien (2024) and HEK Basel (2023). Works have also been shown at the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2023), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (2022), during the Aichi Triennale (2022), as well as at the Art Institute of Chicago (2021) and the Museo Tamayo, Mexico (2021).
